But first, don't take our word for it, check out these Rave Reviews… JR in Massachusetts writes …"My wife and I have been visiting the Caribbean (mostly resorts in the Bahamas) since 1982. Fernandez Bay Village was our last place to experience. For us, it was by far our most enjoyable Bahamas resort vacation ever. It was quiet, secluded, beautiful scenery, with one of the best beaches we've ever been on(including Treasure Cay). The Bahamas resort staff was more than friendly there was great food. The native islanders are the most pleasant people we've met. They were poor in pocket but rich in personality and spirit! "Cat" is not an upscale island with modern resorts but rather a low-key, undeveloped place...the way the Caribbean used to be. If you wish to explore, there are miles of deserted beaches, blue holes (fresh and saltwater subterranean caves), old eroding historical edifices and an incredible built- by- hand coral rock monastery at the top of the highest point in the Bahamas (200+ feet). If fishing and seafood is your thing, there are plenty of conch, lobster and fish that have never seen a lure. If you require luxury, gambling, special pampering, jet skis, golf etc., then this isn't the place! We rarely return to a site, but we are going back again this year (2000). We feel we've found our place. Southern Florida Magazine, 1998 "The few venturesome travelers who stumble on places… like Bahamas resort on Cat - the ones who do not like to be known as tourists - tend to regard such treasures as their exclusive domain, unexposed places they can return to… [it] retains the same mystique I first knew." New York Magazine, 1994 "Absolutely quiet, private; can't be beat for getting out of bed and walking across the sand into serene waters. First-rate food; occasional yoga retreats; easy for kids…" Eclectic visitors, cottages, and islanders make this remote island one of The Bahamas resort best kept secrets. It's not that hard to get to, you just have to work at it a little. Your efforts are well rewarded with a deserted, powdery white sand beach rimmed with causerina pines. Nightlife is what you make it. Visiting sailors, many repeat guests, and newcomers enliven the dinner conversation and evening bonfire. Couples and families alike love the Bahamas resort.
